JESUS THE PROTOTYPE FOR SONS OF GOD
A Bondservant…….part 3
Jesus humbled Himself, voluntarily taking the form of bondservant.
Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though his is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time
appointed by the father. Galatians 4:1-2
This is a vital principle which is to be grasped by those who name the Name of Jesus. It is essential for true discipleship, to foster maturity. We see it operating in Jesus’ example, and also in the lives of His twelve disciples. Only after three years of intensive training, Jesus said to them:
You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
John 15:14-15
It grieves my spirit when I hear people identify themselves as friends of Jesus when they do not obey Him, and don’t have any idea what their Master is doing.
You are My friends if. God is to be hallowed, not presumed to be “daddy.” He is our Father in heaven indwelling by His Spirit. We are to worship Him, be awed by Him, and respect Him above all else.
Process qualifies us for promotion.
We must be willing to start at the bottom, voluntarily taking the form of bondservants. Maturity and obedience, not terms of familiarity, lead to intimacy.
I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
Finally Jesus established a Father son relationship when He met Mary at the tomb and introduced “The Way” of relationship for all who believe on Him and reinforces the truth that our Father is also our God.
“Jesus said to her, Do not cling to Me [do not hold Me], for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brethren and tell them, I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God”. John? ?20:17? ??
Notice that Jesus never refers to God as“daddy” but Father.
